About Her
I've tried regular dating sites, but I'm a bit too old-school - I'm not into one night stands or most modern dating culture. I'm definitely a romantic type, but I'm also pretty straightforward and prefer to just be open about what I like and not play all those mind games that dating involves these days.
I'd love to find someone that has similar interests and values that I can get to know well and settle down (run around the world) with. Long term relationships seem pretty rare these days. Where did all the romantic people go? : /
I work hard and enjoy what I do, but like to keep busy in my free time. I prefer to be outdoors exploring new places or hiking/biking around woods, but come equipped with a range of useful indoor skills including cooking/baking, DIY, sewing and investment. I work in IT, so can also fix your computer (or turn it off and on again for you). I'm quite petite (hobbit size) so can fit into stealthy hiding places and I'd be quite handy to have around during a zombie apocalypse!
I'm very happy to debate things (in a non-shouty way) and won't take offence if someone disagrees with me. I grew up in a very big, chatty family and loud dinner table discussions are the norm. If I bring you home to meet the parents then you'll get roped in too! I'm interested in economics, history and politics and like to keep track of what's going on in the world. If you leave me in front of a TV then it will end up on Bloomberg! Other than that, I love animals and I'm fanatical about Lego (actually, most kids toys)!
In terms of religion, I have a mixed background (went to baptist Sunday school, CofE education, other family members are methodist and I lived in a catholic country for a while). I go along to random events/services when invited, so describe myself as 'grass roots' these days.
Bad Points: I'm clumsy and will fall over any object within a 10 mile radius. I have an inapropriate sense of humour. I still play WoW occasionally!
About Her Ideal Match
I'm not sure I have an 'ideal'. I tend to find all sorts of people interesting after I meet them, so it's difficult to know in advance (I can't do the swipe left/right thing!). I'm very attracted to intelligence - not just academic, but the ability to approach situations with logic and creative thinking. The type of people that are curious about the world and constantly want to understand how and why things work. Children are born with a natural curiosity about the universe, but adults seem to lose that as they get older. I love meeting other people who have managed to keep this approach. I enjoy a good debate!
What else? Hmm... someone who has a strong moral compass (if that's the right term) and shares similar values to me. I'm a bit of a workaholic during the week, so I guess I'd prefer someone who at least understands if I can't respond to text messages 24/7 and won't take it personally.
I don't really have a specific 'look' that I go for. Nice hair is a bonus, but not a deal breaker. At my age, I expect everyone to be at least a bit grey! I think the only thing that would be a concern is if someone was too overweight/unfit to do anything with me. I have a lot of energy and enjoy keeping busy, so I'd like to find someone that I can run around and explore places with. That doesn't mean you have to be super toned though, just healthy enough that I don't have to worry!
Oh... must have a ridiculous sense of humour. I'm always a bit wary of people that are too serious outside of work hours!
If you play an instrument or have decent gardening skills, that is a definite bonus. I recently developed an interest in permaculture and need someone to teach me! ; )
